Aurora at Kings Place, January 2010

5th March 2010

Ravaged by war and its economic aftermath, German and Austrian cities in the years after 1918 nevertheless proved to be astonishingly productive cultural crucibles. Artists, filmmakers, musicians and writers set about shattering the established frontiers of their respective disciplines in the pursuit of ‘modernity’, bequeathing a remarkable artistic legacy that would survive and flourish in spite of later Nazi attempts at its eradication.  Aurora’s inaugural residency at Kings Place, ‘From Vienna to Weimar‘ explored the explosive creativity which illuminated the inter-war cultural landscape of central Europe, with a week of richly varied music, film and cabaret.

For those of you who missed it, here are some highlights of ‘Stylistic Crossroads’, the final concert in the week-long series.
