After almost twelve rich and memorable years with Aurora, Thomas Gould will step down as Leader after Christmas to expand his play/directing work. We are hugely grateful to Thom for his invaluable contribution to Aurora in the orchestra’s formative years, and wish him all the very best as he develops his work as a director of unconducted projects, as well as continuing his orchestral leading.  (We look forward too to sending him off in style for his final concert as leader of Aurora on 16 December at Kings Place – do come and join us if you can!)

We are now very excited to be conducting an international search for an outstanding soloist, orchestral leader and chamber musician who will share our Leader role with Aurora’s other existing Leader, Alexandra Wood. Following on from the hugely enriching recent trial process for a new Principal Cello – which this week ended in the announcement of Torun Stavseng and Sébastien Van Kuijk as joint appointees – we look forward to getting to know leading violinists from across Europe and beyond over the coming months.
