Opening this year’s Kings Place Festival, this ravishing chamber programme showcases the virtuosity of four of Aurora Orchestra’s principal players: Thomas Gould (violin), Timothy Orpen (clarinet), Nicolas Fleury (horn) and John Reid (piano).
Brahms’ Horn Trio, written in memory of the composer’s dead mother, is performed alongside Alban Berg’s dazzling serialist miniatures for clarinet and piano, and Bartók’s Contrasts, originally created for legendary jazz and swing clarinettist Benny Goodman.
