27 piano concertos, five years and one creative visionary.
The final year of our Mozart’s Piano series at Kings Place launches in 2020. Spanning across five years (2016–2020), this series is the first ever complete cycle of Mozart’s piano concertos ever staged in the UK.
Our five final concerts shine brightly with exceptional pianists and richly diverse programmes, including a memorised performance of Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony and Anna Meredith’s modern twist on Vivaldi’s Four Seasons for strings and electronics.
Here’s a note from Nicholas Collon, our Principal Conductor, about what’s in store:
‘It’s hard to believe that we are entering the final year of our Mozart’s Piano series. It has been an extraordinary journey for the orchestra, working with such a variety of inspiring pianists and delving into these 27 perfect musical gems. With a mixture of sadness and exhilaration we turn to these last five piano concertos (Nos. 23–27), each of them a miniature masterpiece. We are delighted to welcome back both Yeol-Eum Son and Imogen Cooper, who have appeared already to great acclaim in the series, alongside other world-class pianists who join us for the first time: Javier Perianes, Nicholas Angelich and Louis Schwizgebel.’

Alongside each concert, a late-night Lock-In continues the music in the intimate surroundings of Hall Two. Highlights include a rare opportunity to experience Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony from right inside the orchestra, an in-the-round performance of Mozart’s Quintet for Piano and Winds, and a special fancy dress superhero party.
