Culture Recovery Fund award

13 October 2020

We’re so pleased that Aurora has been announced as one of the recipients of the government’s Culture Recovery Fund, with a grant of £200,000. We’re hugely grateful to Arts Council England and to the Department for Culture, Media and Sport for this invaluable support, which will help to offset the financial damage caused by a year of sharply curtailed performing activity. This funding will be used to sustain our organisation and programme over the next six months, including delivering performances in the concert hall and online, and generating new creative digital content.

We are under no illusion as to the scale of the challenges ahead, and continue to be concerned by the devastating impact of the pandemic on the performing arts landscape – particularly as it affects the freelance musicians, creatives, and support staff who are so vital to our programme, and who in many cases continue to slip through the net of government support schemes. But news of the grant is hugely welcome: together with the vital ongoing support of our network of individual and organisational funders, this will enable Aurora to continue delivering a vibrant programme of work both on the concert platform and digitally.  In addition to the performing activity already listed on our website for the coming months, there are a host of other exciting projects in development which we can’t wait to share with you: keep an eye on our e-newsletter and social media channels for more news.
