Join Aurora’s principal players for an immersive afternoon of questions, riddles and puzzles, featuring our new principal trumpet, Aaron Azunda Akugbo.
Composers have always enjoyed a puzzle! From Bach’s answer to Frederick the Great’s musical challenge, to Ives’ contemplation of ‘the perennial question of existence,’ this performance is all about how we might (or might not) find answers. Missy Mazzoli’s Ecstatic Science brims with the restless energy of curiosity and Saint-Saëns’ Septet (dedicated to a mathematician) looks to the past to provide a dazzling virtuosic finale.
Featuring our recently appointed Principal Trumpet Aaron Azunda Akugbo, this is a unique opportunity to sit amongst and around the shifting kaleidoscope of colours created by a mixed ensemble of Aurora’s wind, strings and brass principals.
Aurora’s new series, Aurora at Kings Place, explores chamber music in a close-up, immersive setting: a chance to experience classical music without distance.
There are two seating options: beanbags in the middle of the performance or chairs around the edge of the performance area. You can choose where you want to sit on the night, but both seating options will be offered on a first-come, first-serve basis.
