Are these the most famous four notes in history? Everyone knows the beginning of Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony, but the real miracle has barely started, and today, with the help of Nicholas Collon and Aurora Orchestra, BBC Radio 3’s Tom Service takes it all to pieces and shows you how it works. There’ll be live musical examples, and a relaxed and informal atmosphere: a journey into the mind of a genius, with people who love this music and can’t wait to share it. And then Aurora plays the whole symphony from memory. No sheet music, no inhibitions, just audience, performers and some of the most communicative music ever imagined. It doesn’t get more direct than this.
Relaxed Proms are suited to people who feel more comfortable in a relaxed environment. Everyone is welcome including people with autism, sensory and communication impairments, and learning disabilities, as well as people who are d/Deaf blind and partially sighted. There is a relaxed attitude to noise and you are free to leave and re-enter the auditorium at any point. There will be a chillout area.
There will be no interval
