Beethoven 7 Outdoors

Mon 7 September 2020
The West Handyside Canopy, Kings Cross
6pm, 8:15pm

We’re bringing Beethoven’s exhilarating Symphony No. 7 into the open air at Kings Cross and – for the first time since March – you can join us in person. This will be the first opportunity for audiences to book for a full-scale performance of an orchestral symphony anywhere in the UK since lockdown began.

Following overwhelming demand for tickets, we are delighted now to be able to offer another chance to hear the orchestra live, with a repeat performance of the symphony at 8.15pm. Tickets for the 8.15pm performance will be available to purchase on the Kings Place website from 2pm on Wednesday 2 September.

Ahead of our appearance at this year’s BBC Proms, Nicholas Collon and the Aurora players present Beethoven’s joyful, intensely rhythmic symphony entirely from memory under the West Handyside Canopy in Kings Cross – without chairs, sheet music or music stands. Join us on Monday 7 September to experience the unique thrill of memorised performance and celebrate a very special moment with us: Aurora’s return to live music for a live audience.

‘Marvellous… Playing from memory, Aurora created an organic sense of community, dynamism and inspiration.’ The New York Times

Please note that audience members will be seated in socially-distanced groups and availability will be limited to enable social distancing and ensure everyone’s safety. Each ticket group will be treated as a ‘household’ and seated together. Bookers should be aware that this performance takes place in a covered, cordoned-off area within an outdoor public space. While the performance will be carefully stewarded and every reasonable precaution taken to reduce the risk of external noise, it will be impossible for us to recreate concert hall conditions and we cannot eliminate the possibility of occasional extraneous sounds during the performance (eg from members of the public walking nearby). We are grateful for your understanding and hope that you will join us for what promises to be a very special return to live orchestral performance.
