Eroica Tour

Mon 18 May 2020
Cardiff, Nottingham, Perth
7:30pm

This project has regrettably been cancelled.

With its unprecedented scale and shattering dissonances, Beethoven’s Eroica transformed symphonic form in one astounding blow. We perform this groundbreaking work from memory, bringing our memorised performance style to Beethoven’s masterpiece that launched the Romantic symphony.

To give audiences rich context, Principal Conductor Nicholas Collon, BBC Radio 3 presenter Tom Service and our players give a vivid musical introduction with live excerpts, unpacking the work’s musical architecture.

Opening the evening, we perform Mendelssohn’s soaring Violin Concerto, a work of heart-stirring melodies and incredible originality, with Nicola Benedetti, one of the most sought after violinists of her generation.
