.Aurora Orchestra and Abel Salaocoe come together for the first date on their European tour.
South African cellist and composer Abel Selaocoe crosses borders between cultures, continents and opposing musical worlds. In an impressively unconventional way, he combines virtuoso performance with improvisation, singing and body percussion and moving effortlessly through genres and styles. In 2023 he was awarded the Opus Klassik in the “Classic without Borders” category for his musical work. “A brilliantly talented cellist and a one-man band,” said The Telegraph.
Abel Selaocoe now once again lives up to this praise when he comes to the Isarphilharmonie with the no less unconventional Aurora Orchestra and brings with him his own composition: Four Spirits, a musical homage to his homeland. Selaocoe couldn’t have chosen a more suitable partner than Aurora Orchestra: the ensemble stands for unmistakable creative standards and innovative programs, but above all it is considered one of the few orchestras in the world that also performs works from memory and standing up, providing a unique concert experience for the audience!
