We make our debut at the Kölner Philharmonie with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 and a collaboration with cellist and performer Abel Selaocoe.

For the second time as a guest in Kölner Philharmonie’s portrait series, Abel Selaocoe proves that he not only moves effortlessly between genres, but also knows how to impress as a composer and cellist in the classical spectrum. His work Four Spirits will be performed alongside Beethoven’s 7th Symphony.

Despite his worldwide success, Abel Selaocoe has never forgotten where his cultural roots lie: Four Spirits is a passionate homage to his South African homeland. In addition to the cello, Selaocoe also takes on the vocal part, a very special overtone song, the Umngqokolo. Then a foray into classical music: the Seventh Symphony is performed by the renowned Beethoven specialists of the British Aurora Orchestra under the direction of Nicholas Collon, with the musicians of the orchestra each playing their part by heart.
