We return to Wigmore Hall to celebrate the musical legacy of Benjamin Britten. This mesmerising programme pairs Britten’s Serenade, which premiered at Wigmore Hall in 1943, with his Rimbaud settings of Les Illuminations and a new work by Josephine Stephenson written for Allan Clayton.
Due to illness, Allan Clayton (tenor) will now only be performing Josephine Stephenson’s new work in the first half. Robert Murray (tenor) will replace him for Britten’s Serenade for tenor, horn and strings.
Sophie Bevan (soprano) has had to withdraw from the concert due to unforeseen circumstances and Ailish Tynan (soprano) will replace her.
