For the latest in its thrilling series of memorised performances, Aurora Orchestra performs Shostakovich’s ninth symphony by heart – without the use of printed sheet music and music stands.
The programme also features Phillip Maintz’s red china green house, a work commissioned by the Kölner Philharmonie, and Tchaikovsky’s monumental Violin Concerto performed with Kharkiv-born violinist Valeriy Sokolov.
‘Marvellous! Playing from memory, Aurora created an organic sense of community, dynamism and inspiration.’ New York Times
