Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7

First performed: Mon 7 September 2020

Beethoven’s most joyful, exhilarating symphony, performed from memory, preceded by Abel Selaocoe’s extraordinary Cello Concerto Four Spirits.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ “a joyous celebration of energy” (Andrew Clements, Guardian)

Aurora’s first memorised performance of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7

Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 has a special place in our heart, as it was the first piece we performed following the first Covid-19 lockdown in 2020. It also holds a special place in Proms history: it was the last piece Proms founder-conductor Henry Wood directed before his death in 1944.
