Tom Barber
Principal Oboe

It was whilst studying medicine in Cambridge that Thomas Barber began making music with many of his future Aurora colleagues. After two subsequent years studying at the Royal Academy of Music, Tom has gone on to combine careers as a neurologist and oboist. Tom has performed with many of the UK’s major orchestras, but he is happiest when surrounded on stage by his great friends from Aurora, preferably with a bit of Mozart on the programme.
Aurora Memory
Aurora has provided so many legendary memories, it’s hard to pick just one. Tours to Shanghai, Melbourne and Beirut stand out for different reasons (!), but of course it has to be an all-Mozart concert that tops the list, one we gave in January 2011 at King’s Place. There were a few particularly epic bars in this concert and I’m sure Jane Mitchell and Chris Cooper have equally fond memories of the wind parts in ‘Nehmt meinen Dank’.
